James Nathanael has arrived!

On June 23, 2009 at 1:20 PM we welcomed our son James Nathanael Gaiser into the world. He weighed in at 7 lbs. and 8 oz. and was 20.25" long. Both mother and son are doing well. Claudia was in induced labor for about 22 hours using a Foley bulb and Pitosin. She also had an epidural for the pain that was not working. She never dilated past 3 at first and then when they turned up the heat (Pitosin) the contractions kept coming as well as the pain, but she never dilated past 6. At about noon, the doctor asked Claudia if she wanted to go C-section or press on. It did not take Claudia much prodding to go for the C-section.
We were in the hospital until late Friday morning. Claudia's mom is here from Mexico and is helping out! What a blessing it is to have her here. The feedings are sporadic at best with James eating once every hour to sleeping for four and wanting to eat again. You never really know. Hopefully Claudia and James will get themselves on a schedule and we can have a little more sanity (and sleep) around the house.
Sorry that I have not been as diligent as I could have in posting as there was another baby shower for Claudia on June 13, 2009 hosted by the ladies of Bible Baptist and a few other postings we wanted to make before the birth, but just didn't get to it.

Belly Progress/New Do!

Here is the latest of the belly progression photos. This is at the end of 35 weeks. Starting on Tuesday we begin weekly doctors appointments. So, we are getting there. My usually patient wife is getting antsy.
Also notice Claudia's new hairstyle. The heat was starting to get to her so the hair had to go. It will be easier to take care of James when he gets here as well without all that hair. Doesn't she look cute! This is sure to make Claudia's Mom happy too, who, by the way, will be here sometime in mid-June to help with the baby.

Claudia's Baby Shower!

On May 21, 2009 a baby shower was held for Claudia by the ladies that she worked with at Blue Valley Community Action Head Start in Beatrice. A good time was had by all. Claudia and James received many much needed items for which we are all very grateful. Thanks to Cheryl for putting this all together and Lilly for opening her house for this fun occasion. Pictures are posted below.

First Mothers Day

This is Claudia's first Mother's Day as a Mother (to be). In Mexico, Mother's Day is always celebrated on the 10th of May no matter what day of the week it falls on. Unlike here in the U. S. where it is always celebrated the second Sunday of May. We thought it was pretty cool that for Claudia's first Mother's Day, that they both fell on the same day. Statistically, I don't know what that works out to (I will wait for Mike M. our resident K.O.O.K. to let me know) but I thought it was neat!
We went to church and then we took Claudia out for Chinese Food. It was her call. We have a pretty good place here in Beatrice they use the cookbook "101 Ways To Wok Your Dog." They had buffet for Mother's Day. They normally do not have buffet. They have excellent Hot and Sour soup! That is Claudia's favorite. See you next post.

Lost - one pair of ankles.

We are looking for Claudia's ankles. We are unsure where they have gone to, but are almost 100% positive that they will return around June 30th. In the mean time if you find them, let her know!

Belly Progress

Here are Claudia and James at 30 weeks. Claudia had her doctors appointment today and everything was well. She got the results of the glucola test back and everything was just fine. Actually, the doctor said that both Claudia and the baby were doing great and were both very healthy. They did have trouble finding his heartbeat though as he was moving a lot in there. Instead of the heartbeat, all they could hear was a whoosh as he moved from one side to the other. He is a very active little guy already. We are going to have our hands full! Claudia also got the OK to got to camp meeting in TN in May as long as she promised to stop a lot along the drive and walk (and pee) and to make sure she knows where the closest hospital is just in case.
As far as everyday normal stuff goes, Claudia is getting tired more quickly and just can't seem to do as much. She is no longer working at Burger King, and she has only one more week of school and then she becomes an official stay at home, full-time mom. We pray and ask that all of you pray too that my job with the state will continue to provide the much needed overtime that will help to make up the difference with Claudia not working.. We feel that this is the way God wants us to go and ask for His continued blessings as we step out in faith. See you next time!

Not baby related, but relevant.

Claudia and I have changed our telephone numbers. We no longer have a house phone that we will be using, but we will be using cell phones. A much cheaper alternative. Claudia's number is 402-239-1785 abd Karl's number is 402-239-2221. This is effective immediately.

Belly Update!

Claudia had her monthly check-up on Friday the 13th. All was well. The Doctor said the ultrasound showed all the important parts of the baby to be growing and sized right and all that. Praise the Lord for a healthy baby thus far! Claudia weighed in at 164 pounds. Yes, she actually wanted me to write that. She is probably the only woman I know that wants to gain weight. She is very proud of her "baby bump." The next appointment, she has to get her sugar checked and will have to drink the Glucola. I can't imagine it to be too tasty. The baby is moving more and more everyday. Claudia says it has gone from kicks and punches to being able to feel the baby roll from side to side. Sorry for two posts so close together, but we are on the Baby's timetable.
We are working on names, and have come up with James, David, Noah, Daniel, Christopher, Seth or some combination of any two of the above. So far James is in the lead. Any suggestions...?

A small scare...

On Saturday, March 14 at about 11:15 PM we got a small scare. Claudia was having severe pain and cramping in her belly. She held out for as long as she could but it got to the point where it was unbearable, so we called the emergency room. Hospitals as always want to err on the side of caution, so we pack up and go in. They get Claudia all hooked up to the machinery and they are listening to the baby's heartbeat and everything is OK except for the pain, which has not subsided. They decide to give Claudia what they called a GI Cocktail which had Maalox and some anesthetic type of liquid and a third unknown liquid. She drank that and began to feel much better. The best they could tell us was that it was heartburn but due to the position of the baby, the acid could not go up the esophagus so the pain was localized in the stomach. When Claudia first started to have the pains, I asked is it contractions and she said, how would I know, I have never had them before. Good answer I guess. Or maybe just a dumb question. Too soon for contractions anyway. This little guy needs to cook a little longer. Praise the Lord everything came out OK. We will keep you all updated.
Love and God Bless!

It's a...

Boy! We found out on Friday, February 13, our anniversary, that we are going to have a boy. We have not got the final results back yet, but everything appears to be good. The technician was absolutely sure it was a boy, so no doubt there. The baby is about 14 ounces and 7 inches long. That is about where he should be for this time. We are now over the half way point. Claudia is getting very big. She has been feeling the baby kick for about a week or so. She says, that she thinks the baby gets up with her in the morning and she can feel him kick then. I said that is good that the baby gets up with her, because in a few motnhs, we will be getting up with the baby. The morning sickness is gone for the most part and we hope it continues that way. Claudia's energy level is picking up too! We pray that they both continue to grow and be healthy. Your prayers are appreciated. See you next post!

More Belly Progress!

Here are some more pictures of Claudia's ever growing belly! She had a doctors appointment on 1/16/09 and the Doctor said everything is looking good. They drew some more blood and also checked the baby's heartbeat. Now, for those of you that believe you can determine the baby's gender by the rate of the heartbeat it was 155 beats per minute! Feel free to make your predictions here! An ultrasound will be scheduled at the next appointment so we will know at that time what the gender will be.
